Dr. Veronica Pini
Dr. Pini is a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Experimental Neurology at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, Italy, where she is part of the Neuromuscular Repair Team led by Prof. Previtali. Her research focuses primarily on LAMA2-related muscular dystrophy and specifically on the characterisation of novel molecular aspects altered in dystrophic muscle and peripheral nerve. Currently, Dr. Pini is studying potential genetic modifiers of disease severity in LAMA2-RD mouse models.
Previously, Dr. Pini was a Research Associate at the Dubowitz Neuromuscular Centre at UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health in London, UK. There, she contributed to studies on congenital muscular dystrophies and collaborated on the natural history study of LAMA2-related muscular dystrophy. Dr. Pini has also been involved in the development of gene-editing strategies for neuromuscular diseases, including research on CRISPR/Cas9-induced dystrophin restoration in in vitro models of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
