Dr. Anna Sarkozy

Dr. Anna Sarkozy is a Consultant in Neuromuscular Disorders at the Dubowitz Neuromuscular Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London (UCL) with a major role in the national highly specialised diagnostic and advisory service for Congenital muscular dystrophies and myopathies. She studied medicine at La Sapienza University in Rome, Italy, where she also completed her higher medical training and PhD in clinical genetics. Dr. Sarkozy has worked at the Newcastle Muscle Centre between 2008 to 2014 as a specialty doctor in Neuromuscular disorders, before moving to London in 2014. Her clinical research focuses on identification of genes responsible for rare neuromuscular disorders,  in particular congenital muscular dystrophies and congenital myopathies, their  clinical characterization and identification of genotype/phenotype correlations. In the last years, Dr. Sarkozy has been particularly focused in characterisation of natural history of these rare conditions and is currently leading on two national prospective natural history studies for congenital myopathies.
